I know it depends on area so I'm in FL if it helps

Looks like any poisonous or venomous reptile in Florida requires a permit. Non venomous lizards have no restrictions except that releasing non-indigenous species into the wild is very illegal

    Venomous Reptiles

372.86 Possessing, exhibiting poisonous or venomous reptile; license required.—

No person, firm, or corporation shall keep, possess, or exhibit any poisonous or venomous reptile without first having obtained a special permit or license therefore from the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as herein provided.
Website is http://www.calusaherp.org/business/laws.htm if you were curious.

Seriously though, those croc skins are these awesome looking tiny dragon lizards, but holding them too much can shorten their life expectancy. They also spend all their time hiding, lay a single egg at a time, and aren't much bigger than the palm of my hand. I feel cheated... what about armadillo lizards? Similar look to them, but that's all I know about them.
