Weight question?

I have seen all kinds of pictures of ball pythons, fat, thin, long, short, etc. My female BP is approx. 4'3" (I can't get an exact length on her on my own.) she weighs 1675g, but doesn't look fat to me. You know how some ball pythons are all girth? Not her. My question is how heavy do female ball pythons get?

My oldest, and also biggest, girl is twice the size of yours at ~3400 grams. She's not even close to the biggest I've seen/heard of.

I held a 5000g female at a show once... Sub-Saharan/Voltas get even bigger, though

She was a rescue, and was at 1350g a few months back. I've up the size of her prey and she is eating well and gaining weight!

Just don't overfeed her! The literature says a adult bp can thrive on a medium rat every 7 to 10 days all its life. A overweight bp has a shorter life span and will suffer with kidney problems, digestive issues and difficulty breeding. Good luck. Be careful.

I watch her weight very carefully. She was visibly underweight before.

We have some very big girls, 5000+ grams. We only offer 1 medium rat per week and they seem to eat more consistently and put on weight at a healthy rate. Hope this helps, it works very well for us.

I was at a large rat every two weeks (my pet store only carried large f/t rats and live mice) I've had a bad experience with live prey attacking her. The vet thinks she's blind in one eye, so depth perception is an issue for her. They finally, at my request. Ordered medium frozen rats, and I'm going to bring her down to once a week, to a week and a half on a medium rat. I've never had her go off feed, so I'm not worried about her eating, I'm more worried about her over eating. I usually weigh her once a month, but I'm going to start weighing her a few hours before feed.
