My set-up

Ok I got her home and inside the tank. She hasn't went inside her hide yet, she's hiding behind it lol. She's very pretty and when I bought her she gripped my hand pretty good which I thought was cool.

As far as heating, Im gonna use a human heating pad on medium during the day, since without any heat AT ALL the inside is 85 degrees. The bottom of the tank with the pad on is about 90-95 degrees.

At night Im gonna switch to a black 40 watt bulb which will make the ambient temp go up to like 90.

Does all of this sound ok? as far as humidity, I dont have a hygrometer yet but Im gonna mist the tank every few days and hopefully I can get a meter soon.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Overall ambient temp should be in the low 80's with a hot side floor temp of 90-95 and a cool side floor temp of 80-85.
Try and get the accurite from Walmart for about 15.00 you can get a temp w/ probe and a hygrometer all in one. Be able to get readings for cool side, hot side and humidity
Sounds like your heat pad is producing good temps for the hot side.
How are you monitoring your temps??

The tank (for now) is a 10gal so its hard to keep one side cool and one side warmer because the light sides on basically the whole tank, I'll stick the thermometer on the cooler side and see what the temp is tonight when I turn the light on, during the day Im only using a heating pad.

It doesn't sound like you need that black light at night. The natural drop in room temp at night will give your bp a nice ambient temp at night, and it can choose where it wants to be.

But honestly, your young bp will outgrow the 10gal in less than 3 months. You might as well just go get a 20gallon Long and at 30x12x12, it should last you about a year or until the snake breaks 3 ft. The 20 long is MUCH easier to control temps and provide the proper temp gradient that they need, which the 10 gal is just plainly not capable of providing.

I agree a ten gallon is too short. I say kill the light and keep the heating pad.
