    new Lil guy

Hey all, my original intentions of adopting the 2 year old didn't plan out, but I ended up getting about a 20 inch (I'm guessing a Lil over a year old?) Ball python. The people I got him from were not taking care of him at all(small gravel substrate with feeding live mice on the gravel), so I'm trying to get everything set up nice and comfy for him. He has mites, which I've started treating with DE flea reptile relief by natural chemistry, and it's worked incredibly so far going to retreat the entire enclosure and snake in 2 days (treated yesterday). I just wanted to make sure I haven't overlooked anything at all. Loki is currently housed in a 15 gallon glass aquarium sitting in a tv stand so only the front is visable. Half of the screen top is foiled over. And I have a 60 watt red light on continuously. Ambient temp is at 83 currently with his hot spot currently 91. Humidity at 55% at the moment. I'm using reptile carpet because I'm just scared of particulates, and I had great exp. With it previously. I am not currently using a uth because able to maintain a nice basking spot (This was one of my questions, should I grab one?) I have 2 hides and an exo terra heavy water dish. I haven't kept a bp in a few years, so please point out anything you noticed I may be doing wrong/ offer up tips.

I just picked the Lil guy up 2 days ago, he was very active and always soaking (I'm guessing because of the mites) and now he's just chilling in his hide full time. I know a hiding bp is a happy bp generally, but I was just concerned, thought I would bring it up. He is also near shed, dull colors, eyes shed over.

So is there anything I can do to make him a Lil more comfy? he is incredibly docile, but with the move and upcoming shed I haven't checked his mouth for an RI. No squeaks or whistles yet though. According to the previous owner he hasn't eaten in 2 weeks. I offered but he refused the prekilled (once again could be due to shedding?) Buy just wondering when I should be worried about refusal. Also when switching from live to prekilled, is chicken broth effective?

Thank you, and I apologize if the nature of post seems frantic. Just worried about him.

I would just let him get used to the new setup as shedding+new enclosure=lots of stress. Up the temps a few degrees to kick in his immune system to help fight anything that might be trying to get to him from the stress. Also make sure he has at least 50% humidity and just let him get settled in and shed. After he sheds, check that both eye caps came off and the end of the tail is shed. He might be soaking because he is getting ready to shed. My little sunglow soaked for 2 days because when she was shipped to me from the breeder, she went into and came out of blue with him and then got shipped to me so the stress screwed her shed up so she soaked for 2 days to loosen it and together we both got it all off and now she is happy as a clam. Check the water bowl to see if you see any black specks on the bottom of the dish or around the snakes eyes or head as they will congregate there since the rest is submerged in water. I would just try a prekilled without anything on it, just do the dance infront of him. Most will take it. Two weeks is nothing, I feed my big BCI girl every 2 weeks and my little BCI sunglow will be going to a 2 week feeding as soon as she is a year old. My pied BP will stay on 1 week feedings unless she decides she doesn't want to lol.
