Using bulbs to provide a daylight spectrum and using bulbs to provide heat are two entirely different concepts. Yes, ball pythons require a heat source for proper thermoregulation. No, they do not require a specific spectrum of light (UVA/UVB) for calcium metabolism like some other reptiles do.
