Shy feeder

Hi there,

so last night was the first time I fed my bp. She has become increasingly shy, where she once used to roam about her new set up, now she hides 99% of the time! Because it is her first week I decided to feed her in her viv, tried to entice her out of her hide by dragging the mouse past the cave mouth but she just wanted to have a look and not come out. In the end I had her striking the mouse from the cave hide and the she dragged the mouse in there to eat. Now I just wanted to ask is there any problems in this long term as her hide is very snug, I can't imagine it's healthy to be coiled up tight when digesting??

No problems. They're very good at eating in small spaces.

There will come a point were they will start to spill out. I usually gage my hides by turning them over, putting the snake in. And seeing how it looks. Maybe about 3/4 quarters full seems to do the trick for me.

How old is he? Anyway, it sounds like typical bp behavior. Also as a rule bp's don't drink very much water. They get a big majority of water from their prey. However ,they need fresh water available to them at all times. Good luck. Stay in peace and not pieces. Don't forget to donate to USARK.

She was born in June last year but the shop couldn't tell me what date as they import them from Germany. Does that sound fishy?? She's actually very similar to your photo (above)! What's that charity about?
