    My new Sharp Sunglow Boa

    Hello all,

First time poster, long time reader. I am a ball python man and just got my first Boa from the recent Hamburg reptile show in PA. I wanted to post some pics and get some opinions on my girl. I researched the Sharp line and Kahl line for weeks as well as the albino morphs (lipstick, sunglow, coral ect.)

I bought a 1.5 year old female Sharp Sunglow from a reputable breeder known as Sam from Red Dog Reptiles. She was $450 which I believe was a good price obviously since Sharps go for more. He said he wanted to move her because he had new hatch-lings to worry about. She is in shed now so she is still a little dull. What do you guys think? Did I do good for $450? I trust that its a Sharp line unless someone here knows better. I love her no matter what. Her tail is so amazing to me. Hopefully she holds the circles pattern down to the tip.

Well if its a sharp, then $450 is a good deal but since its in shed, you wont know. You really wont know until its probably older as from what I understand, the yellowing wont happen until then. Either way, they both will yellow, just sharps yellow less. The best way to know is ask the breeder what the parents were and to get pics. I'm waiting on my EBV Redgroup/ Tom Burke pure lipstickline kahl sunglow to get here. Both of those bloodlines I listed are very red and hold their colors well as they age and I also saw pictures of a 2 year old brother of the girl im getting and he still had serious reds to him even in a horrible cell phone picture lol. Asking if you did well is subjective as one person could say "meh" while another says "omg". It really comes down to whether you thought it was worth it. I mean personally, $450 for a sharp seems fishy as I've been seeing sharps for $800+ so being half price almost for a snake that is pretty clean just seems like I said, fishy. I would have definitely been asking questions on the parents lineage and that response of "he had hatchlings to worry about" makes me wonder as if he was a breeder, I don't see how one more snake could possible break his limit as im sure he has racks ready and he had plenty of time to know what was coming as he bred the parents. Anyways, its a clean looking snake and even if it isn't a sharp, $450 seems about average for a kahl sunglow so either way you didn't lose out. Now a good deal is the female high white baby pied ball python I got for $200. That was my luck for the next year

Congrats on your Boa, she sure is a beauty! Please post some more pics after the shed.

I'd be interest in reading what you think of her personality difference is compared to your Ball.

    Enjoy

Right now the Boa is more active/a little more jumpy because shes new. Deff stronger than the ball. She is shy also. Her eyes are cloudy due to shed so i think that may be why. She didn't eat yesterday.

It was marked down from $550. I emailed him for parent pics. Either way she is beautiful to me.

You definitely have a cool snake there.

You an Sauzo will have a lot in common when he gets his Sunglow in a few days.

I look forward to all of the cool pics from y'all.

Lol yup. I'll have to break down and get a cheap digital camera so I can throw pics of her up other than the ones the breeder sent me. I'll also have to get pics of Dot my high white pied BP up as well as Rosie my normal BCI girl and Harley my fat orange starburst lounge lizard bearded dragon.

And yeah regardless if the snake is actually a sharp or kahl, it is a beauty. Very clean and uniform patterns. You have to just go off faith as even a piece of paper saying the snake is X can easily be forged and then it comes right back to faith in the person you bought it from. I noticed you have aspen bags in the background! Good for you, another aspen user!!! *glares at all the Eco Earth users* Aspen is the way to go!!!

Hey Sauzo, I'll have you know that I'm using Aspen for my Boa!

However, it is a temporary tank until I can get her a clone T-8/10.

I know you think I'm nuts, but I'm struggling with humidity with her, yet my Ball is dead on at 60% with Eco.

    Go fiqure.
