    Pairing thoughts?

Not that this is a decision I have to make anytime in the next couple months (all three males need to mature), but what would you do? My leopard girl is now breeding size but I can't decide what male to pair her to for her first season. My choices are pastel clown and cali enchi kingpin. I originally intended to buy an enchi kingpin so I could make ocelots with her while adding the enchi gene to my collection. But then I'm really partial to the clown gene and seeing J. Kobylka pastel leopard clown combos is making me rethink.

And oddly enough when trying to see if an enchi ocelot has been produced, I found two pics of my enchi cali kingpin have made it to tumblr. At least the RR put my name on there. I feel kinda flattered. Need to get to work on that logo so I can watermark future photos so stuff like this is more advertisement for AC though.

Although they're both great pairings I'd have to go for the long term project and put the pastel clown to her hopefully get some nice pastel leopard het hold backs

Go with what makes you happy. When breeding doesn't go as anticipated or you reach some other bump in the road, what makes you happy is what keeps you going.

    Good luck!

    Re: Pairing thoughts?

I was able to see in person and hold JK's leopard clown when it was still just about a 400 gram juvi, and it was incredible looking. It is why I added Leopard to my collection. While you might get more combos with the Cali Enchi Kingpin, none of them are a Leopard Clown. If that is your passion then I say go for it first and get your hets. You can always pair her next year with the other while you are growing up the hets from this year. Best of luck to you and I can't wait to see pictures of your Leopard Clowns in the future.

Leapards are hot right now and a lot of people will be jamming them in their co-dom combos. I would ALWAYS go recessive when there is the option too. So my vote is the clown.

    Pastel Clown.

My reasoning is that I ALWAYS, start with the longer term project when pairing animals.

    +1 For Pastel Clown

The year after you can go with the Calico enchi kingp, and in this time you can raise a bit your hets.

I would also do pastel clown .

You could make some worlds firsts though with the other pairing. I'm not a fan of leopard + enchi, as it doesn't seem to show off either gene in an amazing way.

Leopard + pastel + clown is just ridiculous though... and not to mention having a powerful and awesome looking animal like that in your collection is sure to ensure MORE fun in the future ! !
