Gauge and UTH removal?
I really want to try to modify my girl's cage by turning it on it's side. However, her gauges for temp and humidity are already mounted to the glass and the UTH is mounted for belly heat. Is there a way to remove them so that I can reuse them? I'm sure I could just use the UTH for back heat if necessary.

How are the gauges mounted now? I would never advocate tape or anything that remains sticky inside a cage. I use hot melt glue to fix everything inside a cage. (return the snake only after the glue is cool)
The uth can carefully be removed, I use a putty knife and gently prize it off. Once off I usually remove the glue and just use heat resistant aluminum tape (meant for higher heat not cold air ducts) to fix it on again. That said UTH are cheap and I might have a spare ready before the removal it is not enough cost to worry about.

Why is tape so controversial?
They are mounted by the adhesive that came with them. They're the cheap ones from Petco. I'm glad to hear the UTH can be taken off and reapplied.

Because the sticky stuff usually adheres better to your snake than the tank. Besides, those analog gauges are inaccurate anyway, and you need to be measuring temps and humidity down where your snake is lying, not on the side of the tank. Get a nice digital gauge with probes.

Trying to save money is my biggest issue right now and I just spent $11 on the set. Doesn't sound like much but it is too me. Could I glue them to the glass for ambient temps?
