First time owner

I just bought my first ball python yesterday . He is a normal 6 months old the girl said she usually fed him on Thursday but she didn't feed him this week when I got home with him I feed him a one day old live and he done great but she said that he usually has bigger so today when we were putting him into his new tank he struck at my husband I thought maybe it was because of stress of a new home/owners and also still hungry so I thawed a small mouse and as soon as I put in front of him he struck it. So do ya'll think the reason he struck at my husband was because he was still hungry??/

Unless your husband smelled like mice/rats I doubt it. Young BPs tend to be a little bit nippy, but usually calm down with age. My guess is he's probably just stressed about being in a new place.

You have to remember that you are about a thousand times bigger than he is and sometimes that can be scary to young pythons. It also helps to remember than bites from ball pythons aren't all that painful, and even if he gets you it won't be so bad. They have really fine needle teeth, so they'll pierce the skin and cause some bleeding, but that's the worst of it.
