Feeding time Qs
Hi guys, I'm wondering how long you leave dead prey in with your snakes? Maybe I'm lucky but this hasn't happened before, I usually hand/tong feed my balls and they take the prey and coil on it instantly and I leave them to eat but tonight no interest in the f/t I always use and also with fresh but dead, just a lot of younger flicking. So I'm leaving the food in there but it's been about 2 hours and nothing. Should I just throw these away and try again later or leave the prey in a while?
Thanks

I leave it over night, if it hasn't been taken in the morning I take it out and dispose of it.
Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened.

Bacteria of FT mice can build up from gut flora
that remain after freezing. If your mice are irradiated they might last longer, but I usually only leave a mouse in the tank for a half hour or so. My ball Delphi generally won't eat a mouse that is less than 95 degrees F, so if she doesn't take it quick she doesn't take it. Over night might not hurt, but I wouldn't go that long.
I feed at 10:30 pm the mouse is gone by 11:00 on way or another.

Thanks. I'm finding a few degrees to cool and no dice also. I always just used warm running water till they were warm no frozen bits in the middle but this snake wants a hot dinner. if still damp also will get the same not interested responce. The hairdryer tip I got here was great until my daughter saw why I kept using her drier! I replaced hers and use the old one for a designated rat warmer now.

I put my frozen in a ziploc baggy and soak them in a container of luke warm water. Usually have to change the water once. You want to be able to squeeze the feeders belly and it feel just slightly warm up the middle. Never had a snake deny one.
