There are diseases that can be present in animals for an indefinite period of time. Some animals are asymptomatic carriers of various viruses.

For garden variety stuff like mites, other external parasites and common bacterial infections, etc., 90 days is fine.

However, there are many diseases that affect all snakes that can go undetected during that period.

Bottom line: buy your snakes from reputable breeders. Do not buy your snakes from people who purchase large lots of animals from private breeders, do not buy snakes from anyone who has a large turnover of animals coming in and going out.

Reputable breeders? Well, just because someone is high profile, posts a lot on forums or has a fancy web page does not mean they are reputable. A reputable BREEDER is someone who has a fairly closed and STABLE collection of animals. A reputable breeder can provide you with records on each animal.
