if the buyer is pushing for the snake that fast, and has the knowledge of how cold the weather is, they probably shouldn't be allowed to own reptiles

Have to agree with this!!! The animal should ALWAYS be put first. And I have to add, it's going to be your reputation on the line when it arrives dead and the buyer suddenly turns on YOU for shipping in such conditions. Do the responsible thing and refuse to ship until weather improves and you have the proper shipping supplies. If you lose the sale then the buyer will prove his true colors and at least your animal is alive and safe.
