In the last two days one of my ASF colonies had 25 babies. The colony has one male and three females. The third female is only 2 months old so is not sexually mature yet. But between the two older females, one female had 10 babies two nights ago and last night the other female had 15. I have yet to have these numbers, usually my ASFs only have 6-9 at a time.
I am not complaining as long as there will be no issues of over crowding as the babes grow. My colonies live in 105qt large, clear, plastic tubs. I have heard that the adults will kill babies if there is over crowding. Is this true? Once the babies are weaned I have tubs to move the babies to so they can grow up some more, but I do not want anything to happen until then.
