    Escaped BP returns

So one of my snakes got out of her tub, and while I'm not 100% sure, I think I know how she did it.

I searched my entire apartment and couldn't find her.

Anyways, I left the lid off in the hope that maybe she would crawl back into her tub, which went directly against my knowledge of how snakes behave.

Hours later, I went back in the room, and saw the tip of her tail disappearing into her hide.

I couldn't believe she actually came back of her own accord.

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

That's awsome! My girl has never escaped per say but they can scoot off quit fast if you don't keep an eye on them. My big girl makes a break for it sometime during cleaning time but she always goes strait to the bed and into to pillow cases, I let her do this and let her think I don't know wher she is. She still thinks it's a good enough hide from me even though I know exactly were she goes. It also helps she is so big and part of her usually sticks out of most hiding spots if she wert there check warmer spots in the house like heater blankets or power cords heat up also, lay down on your belly and get a look at what they see and all the cool cords under things and dark places they love and block off any that could be dangerous
    Of on tangent sorry
yes my snake bolt for her same warm pillows and yours prob had enough exploring and went back to his warm home maybe

I'd still like to know where she was hiding.

    Funny story

I had a male YB escapee while cleaning tubs. He was missing for over a month, no clue where he was hiding. I found him when he dropped into the bathtub. Good thing it was me and not a guest who was afraid of snakes lol.

    Snakes in the shower

Haha! A snake dropping on a naked person in the shower is strait outta a horror movie. If they were afraid of snake before they would now need a therapist!

I reacently saw another story on the news of a toilet snake, in New York I think

My first BP earned his name, "Houdini". In the past 3 years, he has gotten out of a secure location over ten times. I stopped counting at 10.
The first time was when he was a tiny 100g hatchling, he got out of a locked tank and was missing for 3 months. I had accepted that he was gone and most likely dead, then I found him curled up in my suitcase while I was cleaning my closet. Another funny time he got out while I wasn't at home (This time the tank had a brick on top of it), my dad called me and said "There's a snake in our kitchen and it's playing with the cat. I think it might be yours". About a year ago was when the funniest escape of all happened -- I was away, and my sister decided it would be cool to mess with my snakes, she forgot to close the tub and he was missing for 2 weeks.... my mom woke up at 3am one morning screaming bloody murder, and of course there he was, trying to get warm! lol. I've also had some really scary escapes with him, I was giving him a soak in the kitchen sink, I turned around to grab a drink and when I turned back he was gone. Freaked out and searched everywhere, and saw a glimpse of him while looking under the dishwasher. I spent hours delicately unfastening and moving the dishwasher (I am a 100 lb female, for reference. A dishwasher is like an elephant). By the time I got to him, he was almost in the hole in the wall where the plumbing leads. If he would've gotten in there, that would've been his demise, I'm sure. But the scariest of all actually happened a few months ago.. he's about 1500g-ish now, and through the years I've learned tricks to keep him contained. This night was like any other tub cleaning night, except that while I walked 10 steps to the living room to answer my phone, there was a crash and he'd flipped his tub gotten out and under the fridge in literally 5 seconds. Luckily my bf was already coming over, so I started putting defrosted rats around the edge of the fridge and just kept an eye on him under there. When my bf got there, we tried everything we could to coax him out without having to move the fridge. Eventually though we had to painstakingly remove every food item from the fridge, gently wiggle out of its crevice, and lift it forward. It was much harder than imagined, since it's in the tightest spot ever. The commotion had scared him and by the time I could get around and to the back, he was crawling up the hole that leads to the fan/heating/etc. I don't think I've ever been more scared. He was holding on for dear life in there, and the edges were sharp. My bf was losing grip so I couldn't move gently, either. Right as I had most of him out, we couldn't hold the weight any longer and had to let go for a second, which pinned his tail to the floor. I'm so glad he wasn't permanently injured, it was the most stupid thing in the world. It was one of those moments where you realize either option you have is going to wield bad results, so you have to figure out the least damaging option. Thankfully he just has a few scars, but I have since begun cleaning his tub in the bathroom, where there is no where possible for him to hide.
Also, before anyone says I just can't keep an eye on him, that's not true at all. I have 10 other snakes that have never escaped, ever. He's my first true snake love, and I cherish him above all the others, his keen ability to escape into dangerous places drives me absolutely insane.

Ball pythons are only pretending to be slow, if given a chance or reason they are lightning fast. I have a fake fur blanket on my bed and it is mink soft and their scoots don't work to push them forward so they wiggle faster and faster its looks like they are swimming in place on my bed it's hilarious!!! It's a ball python treadmill lol!
