Looking to build my own husbandry
Good day all. I've own my snake for 6 years and she's been through a few different housing techniques. Currently she is in a 40qt tube. While this is efficient, I'd really love to build her her own cage.
I've looked up online for a few different ways, but was wondering what any of you may suggest. I'm looking at just doing something simple. I don't want it to be all glass. I'm looking to build it out of plywood with a finish and seal it. Using flexwatt for her belly heat, and setting up a front opening sliding glass/thermo plastic doors for entry. I have measurement for what would be for a 40 gallon cage (unless that's to large).
Any input/advice would be much appreciated as I've never done this before, and figured a good start, before starting, would be coming to get the great advice you all give.
Thank you.

Re: Looking to build my own husbandry
Hey there , I was thinking the same thing last week lol. So I went looking for wood, sealant and so on. In the end I would have spent about 300 euros (in Austria) now I'm getting it made out of Glas it costs me 180 and its hear on Thursday. You should check out what kind of wood you use as some wood could be bad for your snake (that's what I've been told). I'm going to stick cork boards in my Glas tank , looks like wood keeps the humidity and isolates well (absolutely safe to use). Good luck I'll be checking out how it goes !

Ohh! That's a great idea! I've found a fairly cheap glass cage, but never thought of lining it with cork! She use to be in a glass setup before, but we always struggled with humidity (as I know is very common with glass set ups) that's why she's in the plastic setup now. How would you adhere the cork to the tank?

Re: Looking to build my own husbandry
you could use aquarium silicone to stick it in. Or if you don't won't the silicone on your Glas you could get thicker cork and stick a few suction cups on the back that way you could always take it back out (I haven't tried this method but I think this should work just fine) ohh and I've seen the cork in black and brown ,black looks grate. I'll post a few photos when I'm done with mine I've still got her in Glas at the moment
