    Calico pricing

I have never been able to find a calico retic for sale weather it be a hatching or full size adult. I'm just curious as to how much it would really take to purchase one. Hatchling or adult. Anybody know?

Saw a breeder calico for sale not long ago - breeder being key word. It was a VERY aggressive female adult. They wanted 3500. I have seen another for sale that was pet quality for 4500. Better investing in a pied at 3k for a hatchling IMO

Why are there so few around? I wish they were more readily available. They always look so incredible.

It's a random mutation that shows up in the wild. But it happens on somatic tissue and not germic meaning that it is not heritable In any gas gun that we have seen. Heck some calico show up after a year of being a normal snake. Then one shed one day it loses scale pattern. There are very very few captive born and bred calico. I know of 2. The rest have all been wild caught which is more common and hence why most are super aggressive

Thanks for the info. Now I see why there aren't so common. I also can't find much info on them online. Are they difficult to breed due to the fact that they are wild caught?

No people have bred them fine. The offspring simply do not inherit the trait

Meaning that the trait will not pass down to the offspring. Breed a calico x normal you get all normals. Breed a calico x tiger you'll get tiger and normals calico does not pass on.
