    Hide idea?

I'm thinking about using woven baskets as hides. Just cutting holes in them and flipping them upside down. They are only $1 a piece for any size. What do you guys think?

    Hide idea?

Wouldn't a woven basket allow light in? You want the hide to be as dark as possible I would of thought, but hey let's see what everyone else thinks!

Another thing I can think of is that my snakes all seem to enjoy peeing or pooping inside their hides right up against the hide box which is why I'm glad they're plastic and wash easily. I could see something woven from wood or straw getting nasty after a few months.
    Cheers, Jeff

Personally I'd use something that won't absorb moisture. If you don't mind throwing them out and they remain dark enough then could be worth trying.

Sure thing! I'll try to snag some tightly wound ones to minimize light

I ended up getting plastic bowls, 2 for a buck. They're working great, you just have to be extra careful that the edges are not sharp from cutting the holes.
