Feedback on display cages

I have flexiwatt on the bottom of my AP cage. There is a spot for it and the thermostat probe. It works great!

How does heating work on the Vision Cages and Animal Plastics? Can I put heat tape on the outside, so the animal doesn't come into direct contact with it, without worrying about melting or warping the cage? I feel like that's a silly question, because I have the stearlite bins for my ball pythons sitting on heat tape without trouble (thermostat controlled of course!), but I need to ask just to make sure.
I guess part of that question includes, would heat on the outside be able to make it through to the inside the way it does with a stearlite bin?

I have heat pads on the bottom of my Vision cages with a thermostat probe attached and it heats up just fine. There is not a significant loss of heat through the plastic at all.

I know my enclosure has issues. We splurged and got the snake we wanted this past weekend. I beautiful pied, wonderful snake... My kids and I have visited this guy for two years at least at instead of getting a less expensive snake as a consolation prize, we went for it. We researched like crazy, but followed the advice of the shop owner and kept him in the same set up he's been accustomed to for his whole life.

I worry about the bulbs being mounted inside the cage made of particle board, I worry about the humidity being low and I worry about the lack of an UTH.

Wondering what I should do long term and short term. Thinking about caging the bulb/bulbs (do I even need a white bulb? Can I just heat the cage with the red during the day?) or maybe buying a cage from showcasecages.com like this: http://www.showcasecages.com/48BGlg.jpg

Whatever we go with needs to be attractive since it's a focal point in our family room and visible from the front door. It needs to be pretty

Do not run your exposed bulbs in the cage with the snake in it. They get hot enough to burn it badly if he brushes up against it.
