Feeding problems.
My snake hasn't eaten in a little over a month. I'm a first time ball python owner, & I've read & heard they're picky eaters, so I've been trying not to let this stress me out much. But I'm confused, because she's bitten my dog & struck at me while still in her terrarium at least 3 times. I've offered her F/T, live, & freshly killed mice, but she's rejected all of them. My next step is to offer her rats in the same forms. I'm just puzzled as to why she's striking, but not eating. Her temps are in range, her humidity is good, she hasn't been mistreated in any way or put in a stressful environment. Any ideas as to why she's doing this?

Re: Feeding problems.
Are her hides small and dark enough?
It sounds like it could be a security/ stress issue at first thought.

Re: Feeding problems.
She's got one on each side. One is a log. The entrance that points to the front of the terrarium is covered in decor. The entrance from the back is open, but it's obviously pointed away from me. The other hide is a plastic tree that has two entrances, both of which are aimed away from me. She stays in the log on the warm side more than anywhere else.

It's not really advisable that you have two different hides, snakes can end up favoring them and choosing security over proper thermoregulation. She is also likely to feel insecure because there are two entrances. No matter if they are facing away from you, she will still feel like she is more exposed because there are more entrances. I think that the best way to go is to buy her two of the same cave hides (single entrance) and put them in each end. That way, she should like both of them and feel secure enough in them. After that, if you really wanted to, you could put the log hide in the middle as well as the plastic tree hide.
