    How long to shed?

Hi..... My young bp cleared up from blue around 5days ago but still isn't shedding? Is this sort of time period normal ? Plus I haven't fed him for around 10 days as he went blue so I left him alone , so he has missed two meals, as I didn't expect it to go on this long! Should I feed him tonite as he probably hungry.
    Thanks

Sounds normal to me. Your snake should shed any day now. If you want to feed him you can. I usually wait until my snakes have completed their shed cycle to feed. It won't hurt your snake to wait a few more days to eat either.

    Re: How long to shed?

Right ok thanks for that, it's my first royal and will be his first shed, I would prefer to not feed him until he has shed, I just thought he would have shed by now . He has become a little bit more active the last couple of days, having a little roam around and sticking his head out of hide, as opposed to last week where he was tucked away and didn't move for a week. He seems almost back to normal but hasn't shed! I'm trying not to handle him but I really want to spot clean in his hide but that would mean moving him? He has had a few of those white looking poops?? But no proper poop since I've had him? Which is around 6weeks..... Thanks

If you need to spot clean you can do so. Those white poop looking things are called urates, lol. I am sure once he sheds he will leave you a present of the brown type. He sounds like he is doing very well.

    Re: How long to shed?

Ok great, yeah he seems ok, eating every 5 days till recently, except the first week I had him but he was probably just settling in. I'm going to weigh him when he has shed. My humidity is around 60% so I'm hoping it's ok for a shed? Guess I will soon find out lol..... He has never been over active though only really coming out when he smells food! That also maybe the vivarium I put him in being a little too big but I had to as the tub temps were not warm enough when I first brought him home. Thanks

About the only "normal" with these guys is, nothing is dead nuts on normal.

They are a continuing process in education.

    Re: How long to shed?

My young female took around a week to do her complete shed. She was just hanging out in her hide, all glazed-eyed looking, and not doing anything. Eventually she came out on her own, made a poopy/urate mess (huge, too!) and was spectacular looking. I looked in the hide and was greeted with a beautiful, one-piece shed. It was quite amazing - complete head-to-tail except for about a quarter inch on her tail that came off later that night. It seemed to take forever and I was a bit worried but since then she has been mostly herself-likes coming out to explore. I tried to feed her the next day but she wasn't interested so I'm waiting for another couple days to retry. She has also been hanging out around and under her water dish which is a bit odd.

    Re: How long to shed?

Yeah mine has the odd drink but never hangs out near the water bowl, he went blue then cleared up, and it's been a week since he cleared up now! And has just lost his old skin on his nose area and that's it. I was waiting till he had shed to feed him but I offered tonite and he was straight on it, I didn't want to wait any longer as I hadn't fed him since he was in blue, he was definitely hungry! ...Thanks
