Champagne male, or female?

For a while I've been obsessed with the Champagne morph. I'd like to acquire one and breed him/her a couple years into the future once I've done all my research on breeding - and moved into a bigger place! I want to get a female Champagne, but I read somewhere that you should always pair a genetically lower female to a genetically greater male.. i.e. a champagne male to a pastel female, but not the other way around. In that case, would I be better off getting a male since the morph is co-dominant? Or does it really matter at all what gender the co-dominant morph is?

Sex of the morph doesn't matter; the statistical outcomes are the same whether the male is champagne and the female is pastel, or vice versa. The reasoning behind using genetically superior males is based on economics and turning a profit at breeding; it's cheaper to purchase a champagne male and three pastel females, rather than three champagne females and one pastel male.

Great answer! Thanks so much. I knew it had something to do with economics but I wasn't sure if it had something to do with production, too. Like if a female Champagne would turn out a higher or lower number of Champagnes in the clutch... but that's just my inexperience talking!
