I love the snout shots and the periscoping, especially when they get up so high that half their body is off the ground, just to look around. My favourite thing about Nagini in particular is that she will curl around my neck and stare at my computer screen like it holds the secret to life.

Re: Favorite thing about Ball Pythons
The main thing I love about ball pythons is their docile behavior and ease of handling them. They also come in some pretty cool paint jobs. They are very addictive. I started with just one female normal but I have a new acquisition now also.

I don't know of much other snakes that periscopes the way ball pythons do. I'm also very interested in their natural history. But a normal ball pythons's pattern is simply one of the most graceful, cryptic and sophisticated pattern of any other (normal morph) snake, and I'm probably more awe-struck by a healthy and bright normal BP than something like a banana-calico-whatever morph. I guess I'm weird like that.
I also love how powerful a snake can be, and how formidable of an animal they are, especially for something that's essentially a tube. The only other tubes in the animal kingdom are either fossorial bug eaters or parasites. I'd say that's quite the evolutionary achievement for a snake.
Snakes were also the inspiration for dragons, and 'serpents' are the only "real mythological" creature. (well, them and narwhals anyway)

Re: Favorite thing about Ball Pythons
I find the patterns and colors amazing. Plus they are a fun pet. My ball loves to come out and explore and she plays this game of refusing to go back in. People that don't know or understand snakes cannot appreciate them. There is nothing scary about them (although sometimes when she is curled up in her hide I'm sure she is thinking "F off and let me rest!" but she gladly comes out to keep me entertained. She completed her first (with me) shed yesterday and she practically glows. My entire family is enthralled with her. I think I need another one or two so we can all share.

Re: Favorite thing about Ball Pythons
I love so many things about mine already mentioned, but for me it's being able to provide for it effectively (which of course includes feeding it, and seeing yet another rodent tail go down the widening tube), as well as watching an otherwise-"pet rock" spring to life when the room is scented with a freshly-warmed prey item.
