He is a rescue. He also has a bite mark on his back that I don't think is visible in any pictures.

regular feeding, he'll catch. It can be bad for his health if you overfeed him to get weight back on quick

I only ever heard the "10-15%" and girth rule. And a med rat fits that.

I would say small to start off. Wouldn't want to over work his metabolism. When our big girls are off feed for a long time. That's what we start with. And then after a few feelings we move back up
