Another way to deal with mites is by using lice and bed bug linen spray. It has permethrin in it and that is what kills mites. You soak everything in the tank in a 30:1 water to bleach ratio for an hour or so. While doing that, clean the tank itself. After cleaning everything, spray everything down with the bed bug spray and let it dry for a few hours. When you go to put everything back in the tank, use paper towel as substrate so you can see any living mites or see the dead ones. Don't go back to any other substrate for at least 30 days.
Next get Nix cream rinse and mix a 30:1 solution of distilled water to Nix and spray your snake down in a separate container once every 4 days for like 3 weeks. Nix cream rinse has permethrin in it as well and it will kill mites living on your snake.
All of this stuff is available at CVS in the anti-itch section so you don't have to order it online. The bedbug spray is basically the same thing as Provent-a-Mite as they both have the same active ingredient. Just use the CVS brand of bedbug spray because it's like $6 for the spray, but use NIX brand cream rinse. Unfortunately that stuff is expensive, but it will last you a long time with the 30:1 ratio. It comes in a little 2-pack of these bottles and it's over $20 but the active ingredient in it is also permethrin, but it won't harm your snakes if you make the 30:1 ratio of distilled water to Nix.
