SPIDER MALES.. Breeding problems?

Check on him early in the morning.Around 4:oo or so .some of ours breed really late or very early of a morning.He may be locking up and you just not catching him.also check to make sure he is deffinately a male.someone may have sold you a female thinking it was a male.

Both my Spider and Bee have locked with my Butter. I have seen them locked for hours, even all night. Checked them b4 bed and still locked and in the same place in the AM.

really? have you seen males like this?(not breeding at all regardless or right age and size) - does this mean i would never get to see combos out of him forever? - huhuhu

A friend of mine had this, he Bought himself a spider het. piebald male back in the day that they still costed a couple of thousand dollars and that male never bred for him, he still has the snake but just as a pet.

Males do not need to be locked up for hours at a time to be successful, I would think that a few minutes is really all they need. Like I said, I've had a male that I never saw locked, I've got other males that I rarely see locked up but they still get the job done. One thing you can do is check for evidence the next day, breeding couples will often leave what look like little blood trails and musk smears on the paper (another reason I like using newspaper as a substrate)

- as far as gender is concern, i'm sure he's a male.. we probed him and i popped him i think twice this month just to make sure, i both hemipenes are there. there's one thing i notice when i pop him after removing him from the females tub. one of his hemipenes seem to pop first than the other but the sperm plugs are still there.. does that mean anything?

The male that sired my clutches this year was a Nuclear Spider, so had the spider gene at play. He had plugs at 400g, but I didn't actually breed from him until 800g.

The only Lazy breeders I have came across were pieds. But I may have just been unlucky.
