Exclamation How Long Off Feed Until Its Time To Worry?

Hey guys, so my BP has been off feed for a loooong time. Unfortunately, due to a computer crash a few months back, I can't look in my records to see the exact last time she ate, but it must have been about 7/8 months ago! I will weigh her as soon as I can to track weight loss. She doesn't look too skinny or anything but it is still scary for me. I have tried everything, live, f/t, even an ASF, with no luck. What's my next move?

How Long Off Feed Until Its Time To Worry?

My ball went about 8months plus without eating and was fine, as long as the weight isn't falling dramatically and she is still her normal self I wouldn't worry.

I got my snake back on feed by sticking a cocktail stick in the rats skull (f/t) to expose blood on the head and ever since has been back on feed.

    Is the husbandry all fine?

Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened.

It really depends on the animal and it size but I have seen animal fasting for a year without issue.

It's hard to tell when your animal will resume feeding, but in the meantime the important is to make sure that it is well hydrated until she does and of course looking into how you can help her resume feeding faster is something to look into also.

Make sure your husbandry is optimum (not too big of an enclosure, animal feeling secure, no drop in temps etc)

Try switching the animal to a much smaller enclosure if you have not done do already does not always work but it can help them resume feeding.

Most importantly be patient and understand that their metabolism is a lot more efficient than our or any other pet you might own and of course I recommend you to read this http://jkrballstreetjournal.com/2014...-eating-again/

From what I understand so long as the snake isn't dropping a bunch of weight, it should be okay and no need to worry yet. Your next move should be to try and fix the computer to get at those records, and to weigh her to compare the current weight with the last time she ate. How old is she? Being off feed for an adult is less of a worry than for a baby or a young one if I am correct.

I agree with Deborah's post! I would also recommend giving a hide box (if the snake doesn't have access to one) or moving the snake to a different enclosure or even a different part of the rack/room.
