Was this a f/t? How did you thaw it and warm it?

After a regurg you need to give the snake time to build the stomach fluids back up. Give it two weeks before trying to feed again. During this time make sure all your numbers are correct and that the hotspot has not dropped or had something happen to make it not work correctly.

If may be helpful to run us through the type of cage your using with how and with what you are heating with.

I really doubt this was caused by the piece of substrate.

I have a 10 gallon tank with the screen top covered mostly with glass to keep heat and humidity in and I'm using a Reptile Basics heat pad on a hydro farm thermostat with a 50 watt red bulb for the ambient. It did not smell really all I smelled was his feces. When I had a boa long ago his regurge smelled up the whole area around his enclosure and it was awful. I fed F/t heated in hot water for about a hour. Now that I think of it the mouse smelt kind of funky and was a frozen mouse from Petco. Add soon as I cut open the bag I got a wiff of something stronger then usual. Weird because I bought the past two mice the same day as this one
