A good read is THE COMPLETE CARPET PYTHON by Nick Mutton and Justin Julander.
They continually state in the book that ALL species are at least semi arboreal. Some more than others, but they noted large coastal carpets several meters in the canopy on different occasions.
I think Thumpa has a picture of his carpet in the exact same resting position as his green tree python if I'm not mistaken.
The semi arboreal and terrestrial habits, make carpets a very fun snake to own.
