Red light at night- good or bad

Quick question, and want to see how manny of you use it. I have Ball Python and a RedTail Boa and both are heated at night by a inferred Zoomed red light as the room temps are too low to go without. Is this ok to use and do you think they can see it and it throws them off in any way. Just looking for some opinions from those who have a lot of experience with either of these types of snakes. Thanks!

It won't hurt. Just make sure it isn't killing your humidity levels.

I don't sleep very well and I use a red light on my first BP Prec in a display tank. I love to watch her play during the night while I'm struggling with the pain from lupus. It doesn't bother her at all. She thinks she's hidden in the dark.
It does kill humidity though, I've solved that issue by a sphagnum moss hide.

Thanks guys, I have actually been blue to keep my humidity at decent levels so far of 50-60%.

My house is at about 65 degrees at night and i use a red light to keep the temps in his viv to 77-80 it works well but it does make it tough to keep humidity up, so i use a reptifog fogger on a timer and that gets it up to about 50% when he is in shed i add a humid hide with some moss to get it to 70%. I am also a night person as i suffer from insomnia due to bad arthritus and refuse to take pain meds, besides my husband is a loud snorer and who can sleep through an earthquake. So my BP is my nighttime buddy.

Its not pointless if its for heat. If it were for light alone I could agree and would suggest using LEDs but not when the heat benefit is needed.

Without my bulb my tank would be 65-68F. I have two glass tanks in my living room and I keep my home cold. I have to use a heat source and use lamps and a che to keep the temps right. Sure its not cheaper than some cage styles to heat but I like how they display so I pay what I need to.

A ceramic bulb is far better than the red bulbs. My suggestion would be to change from a red light bulb to a ceramic bulb. At the end of the day you need to do what works for you!

Now Im onboard. I love my che. It has been running 24/7 at full power coming up to three years. I use the wire basket style fixture and I believe that is a big part of it.
