hey everyone,

ok I never thought i would ask this question and thinking about it.... it feels a bit weird but ok here it is.

Is it possible that a female that isn't ready to breed yet (she is only about 850 grams) is starting to show some breeding season behaviour?

I mean she constantly seeking out the cool side of the tub, while the snakes in the same rack (different tubs) lay alot on the warms side and she is turning into one hell of a picky feeder, like only taking a small meal a week instead of what she usually ate.

or is she just giving me a hard time and thought, "hey let's annoy that guy" ?

Have you checked her warm side to make sure the heat tape isn't running hotter than the other tubs?

Yeah i have looked at it with my temp gun, it is 1F hotter max when the thermostat switches off the temp is 92/93F

Because an animal is on the cool side does not necessarily mean "breeding behavior" I have many that do not care about the hot side and either stay in the middle or the cool end.

As far as not eating consistently this is far from being unusual at that size, many animal will hit a wall anywhere between 800 to a 1000 grams and it can take weeks or months before getting back to a normal feeding schedule.

A small meal a week is actually a good thing not sure what you were feeding and how often but you have to realize that their metabolism changes, their is a big difference between feeding a growing hatchling and feeding an older animal.

My guess you are over thinking and worry about nothing, relax be patient and enjoy your animal.

i guess i indeed worry about nothing, but the thingnis i was feeding her a rats about 70-80 grams once a week and now she wont take anything else then a adult mouse wich is only 30 grams, she wont even take small rats that are the same size as an adult mouse
