large bp terrarium

I have a 4 year old bp about 4 feet long and am looking for a new terrarium. Right now I have him in a aquarium 4 foot long by 18 inches wide by 20 inches tall. It is a pain in the neck. It's hard to clean and replenish water supply and even harder to take him out sometimes. I would want something about the same size bit with doors on the front but can't find anything I like on the Internet. Any ideas of websites or what to use to build my own would be a huge help. Thanks!

You could try making something yourself, there are several DIY instructions on these forums. If you're willing to spend a little more, you really ought to consider PVC cages. Animal Plastics and Boaphile will have exactly what you're looking for, and way easier to maintain than an aquarium.

I like this Atasuki terrarium. Well made, top grill is very secure with 4 clips and 4 small slots (1 per corner) that can stay closed or slid open to squeeze a probe in. And I like the grill at the bottom so the snake gets fresh air coming in as the air in the tank warms up, rises and is vented through an opening in the lid I made from Reflectix.





It's night so I had to crank the light up for photo.

Some day I'll get a proper stand for the lights but the steel screen on top is holding them up pretty well so far.

I agree with The Golem. I should have bought that tank. The one I bought is perfectly fine and works just fine, but it would be nice to have those side-doors and side ventilation. I have regular tank. nothing special on the sides. the only special thing about it is that it has a mini door on the top so that I don't have to remove the entire screen every time I want to get into the cage. I also think my tank is bigger than the one in the picture. Honestly, I went a little wild and got one too big.

For acquiring a tank, I would suggest looking at local reptile/pet shops. They often have used tanks for cheaper than new ones. You might also check at Yard Sales, 50% of all yard sales I've been to have some sort of fish tank or terrarium.

Also worth looking at local Craigslist or kijiji.ca, there are so many people selling enclosures, aquariums and complete packages for a lot less than retail.

I'd love to find one of those! I have the exoterra version...lid is a joke, no clamps. Hubby is going to make a wooden top for it to retain heat. My old old bow front fish tank holds heat and humidity way better! But of course it has a wooden top

I absolutely love the PVC cages. I'm in Canada so I go through someone different, but animal plastics makes amazing cages!

I really love just how light the cages are. I was able to move all my PVC cages down into the basement by myself quite easily. It also makes cleaning easier as they're way lighter than a fish tank.

Easy to maintain humidity as well

I'm in Canada too! You probably know how cold it can get. How do you heat your pvc cages?
