    A pink belly can be a pretty early sign of shed. I really wouldn't worry about holding your baby at that point.

    When mine go blue I leave them alone.

    Also also wait at least 12 hours until any handling AT ALL after feeding, but never less; I try for 24 hours, especially if it's one of my more uptight snakes. By that I mean brief handling, like to do cage maintenance or something. After 24 hours you should be fine with short handlings. I try to wait about 48 hours to handle for longer periods after feeding. I also leave them alone the day of feeding, before I've actually fed them.
