New Python always in 'warm' hide ? Plus temp fluctuations

Hi all..... I'm sure you read newbie problems like this all the time, sorry but we all got to start somewhere!
ive had my 6mth royal for 5days and I've not seen him leave his hide yet? He has been in the warm side in his hide constantly, I believe they are a secretive snake so is that normal? Still settling in?

The warm side temp fluctuates between 30-34c and the cool side a pretty constant 25-26c.

Wooden viv 18" long glass sliding doors.
Habistat reptile radiator roof mounted on one side, with on/off stat (could this be causing temp fluctuation).
Two hides, water bowl , plenty of foliage ....
Any advise or recommendations would be welcome...
    thanks

Anytime you use an simple on/off tstat you will have a greater fluctuation in your numbers. That is normal and not really an issue. You have a tstat, that's the important part.

As long as everything stays well in the cage a hiding ball is a happy ball. Nothing to worry about there. After it gets settled in Im sure you will find it out and about eventually. Your best chance of catching that is night.

Re: New Python always in 'warm' hide ? Plus temp fluctuations

Ok as long as the slight temp fluctuation is acceptable , I may get a dimmer stat in the future, I presume if he was too hot in the warm hide for all this time he would of moved??
Also should I try feeding him soon ? Or let him settle in longer?
    thanks
