I need soem help with the computer. What is a C:\ directory? And how do I download something onto it?

when prompted to save to disk click on "My Computer" then double click on the "c: drive:"

C: drive is usually just the common location/name of your hard drive. My computer has C: drive for the hard drive, D: drive for the cd rom, and A: drive for the floppy disk. I think it can be different with some computers though.
