    I got a real job!!!

I just have to share because I am so amazingly happy right now. It wasn't long ago that a member on here wrote about getting an awesome job and I was all pouty waiting for something good to come along, it finally did! My life has been a complete disaster for the last 9 months, I moved in with family in February, was unemployed or working for less than minimum wage (crappy commission job), have to keep my snakes in another town because I can't have them where I live, ugh, it sucked. My life is finally starting to get back on track, getting this job is a big turning point for me. I'm hoping to get my own place and finally live with my snakes again! I've been keeping them in a different town since February!

So anyhow, I'm an administrative assistant for the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa, so cool! I have my own office, my bosses are great, and we get to have dogs in the office! I graduated from the University of Iowa four years ago and I've been waiting that long for a good job! I feel like a real live adult with this job! It's so amazing to have a job I'm proud of!

To anyone out there feeling down because they can't find good work, the perfect job will come along, hang in there, I know it sucks!

*edit* Also, I apologize for being so spotty, I promise I'm still in the hobby and I will be an active member again soon! I haven't had internet since February, I'm dying inside!

That's awesome!! Congrats!! I totally understand the struggle...minus the lack of snakes on the premises. That would have been unbearable! I don't know how you're managing without your snakeys. I graduated with my B.S. in Biology almost two years ago. After not finding any "grown up" jobs as I like to call them, I finally found a minimum wage job to hold me over. And then another...since one wasn't paying the bills. Finally I decided to go get a master's degree...and keep the two jobs.

It's become nearly impossible to get a job in your field with a Bachelor's degree these days. It's awful. You bust your butt for years and then you end up right where you would have been if you never went to college.

Congrats again on finding that job!! I hope to be making a similar post one of these days.

Yeah, getting a 4 year degree has really been a challenge mentally. I kept asking myself why I bothered because now I have a huge debt to pay. I couldn't find work that made it worth it. People with Master's degrees were working the positions I was qualified for, it was really disheartening. Getting a masters degree is still on my agenda, I started taking classes part time again just to get back into the swing of things :/
