The odd thing is that he has always seemed fine in the hide, goes right into it and curls up usually after feeding or handling. For two months he has spent 99% of his time in his hide, just suddenly seems to think he is a tree python. lol The log hides do of course have two openings, but I have one end of it pushed against the glass and three sides of the tank are lined with bubble wrap with cardboard around the outside of that. So the "back" entrance to the hide is completely darkened and closed off. He really seems to prefer it as I have tried giving him a smaller hide and he went right back to the larger one. I am going to pick him up two new hides soon actually, but not so much because he seems to mind these ones as that I am concerned about keeping them sanitized long term. I want to get him something that can be easily disinfected for health reasons, but the ones I am looking at are a reptile cave and they do have one hide and I think will be cozier for him. Oh and I can no longer say I have only seen him do this once. I just got home and guess who is in his branch again. I just hope he isn't struggling to digest or anything, that is my only concern. I just can't see why he wouldn't just go to his hot hide, it's right there! Oh well, guess I will have to let him do his thing, still though it would be interesting to know what prompted the change in routine.
