    Hello :)

    Hi everyone,

    I'm new here and I just wanted some advice. I haven't gotten my ball python yet but I have the cage set up (except for substrate, hideys, and a water dish) I wanted to go to a reptile expo to get my snake *this way I could inspect the snake and make sure they were healthy and already eating*. The problem is I recently found out that the expo which I thought was only 2 hours 30 minutes away is ACTUALLY 5 hours 30 minutes one way . I'm trying to convince my boyfriend to make the drive there and I'll drive back but it might not happen.

    This is the problem I can't find anybody reliable except for bhb reptiles and KSC exotics (but they don't have a website so that makes me a little nervous). Is there any place else that anyone could recommend? I'm looking for a baby ball python that's between $200-250 (my mom is buying the snake as an early christmas present to me), I like the pewter black pastel snakes *and darker looking snakes in general* I am just trying not to get scammed and get a good quality snake.

    More information about me: I live with my boyfriend of 4 years in our apartment with my dog (a 7 year old shiba inu named Jake, and our 2 rabbits (Caleb the holland lop and Gamgee the mini rex *which is only a guess since he's a rescue* both are 2 years old) I love animals of all kinds *except spiders and bugs* and am very excited for my snake I am NOT concerned that the snake will eat my rabbits since it's not going to get big enough to do so *Caleb is 3 pounds and Gamgee is about 5 pounds* I am not a naive person, I research my animals BEFORE I get them. I only lack experience because this is my first snake though I am ready and willing to learn anything I can be taught.

    Re: Hello :)

    Hi i have never ordered any snakes from bhb but i have heard and read many good things. I was going to order a pastave from there but they didint have what i was looking for. If you find a ball python on there that you like you may not get that exact one so what i did was called them and they took down my email and the next day sent me some pictures of the pastave ball pythons they had. you can also try royal constrictor designs. They have some verry nice ball pythons and show you the exact snake you will be getting along with the weight. I ordered my 1 snake from lllreptile.com and he has never missed 1 meal yet and is in great health. Hope i helped a little bit

    Re: Hello :)

    Three solid options are:
    1) Try Kingsnake.com and Faunaclassifieds.com. Fauna Classifieds also has a Board Of Inquiry section where you can research the reputability of various breeders.
    2) The beautify of this forum is that many of the regular posters here are also breeders themselves! Check out the For Sale/Trade/Adoption section of BP.net to see a small selection of the snakes various members sell (and click on links in their signatures to see their websites).
    3) Try Googling your state + "ball pythons" to find local breeders in your area. Even if there isn't an Expo coming up, you can still usually find the websites for some vendors of that expo. The advantage of buying locally is you can go see the snakes in person before purchasing.

    Re: Hello :)

    It's a system for designating the number of individuals and their sex: males.females. So...
    1.0 = one male
    0.1 = one female
    0.0.1 = one individual, sex unknown
    2.3 = two males, three females

    Hope that helps!

    This is his cage *though it's not complete yet* tell me what you think of it, any advice is welcome. It's just a 10 gallon at the moment because I'm getting a baby but I will get a bigger tank when the little guy (or girl) gets bigger Please let me know if you can see them or not

    The pictures are not showing up. At least for me. Did you go to an image hosting site and upload them there? You'll need to use the IMG code to post them

    The images aren't showing up for me, either. Here is a tutorial on how to post pictures on this forum.
