Reptile Carpet vs. Paper Towels

I hear people explaining all of the time that reptile carpet is a terrible choice due to it's holding bacteria when it is damp or soiled. Since paper towels are also cloth-like, how are they any better in this aspect? If you change and clean it every time its soiled, is the carpet still bad to use?

I have 3 sheets for one tank. I rotate them out for cleaning any time they're messed on which is normally 1-2/week. Is this still unhealthy for my guy?

Well the idea is when the paper towels get soiled you simply throw them away and put in new ones.

Repti-carpet is more estheticaly pleasing but it does hold bacteria so it's more labor intensive to clean. You'll probably need and extra piece to throw in there while the other dries. But on the plus side, you can feed with repticarpet in the enclosure, I always remove paper towels because you run the risk of the prey getting caught up during feeding and accidentally ingested.
