Stubborn Kaliya !
So.. today was supposed to be feeding day (i'm feeding live)
since i wanted to switch to rats, i gave my BP (or at least i tried) a small rat. But like last time, she refused it...
so i returned the rat and came back with a mouse.
she seemed interested but the mouse i came back with was like a Ninja. It climbed on the turf of the walls, in the decorative plants.. Kaliya started chasing her, but the mouse was fast!
anyways, my snake gave up and got back to her hide so i took the mouse out.
I tried a few hours later (now) and she now doesn't even make an effort to eat it.
What should i do?
I have the mouse in a bucket with bread now ><
I either wait till tomorrow and try again or release it in the nature..

Re: Stubborn Kaliya !
Please don't release the mouse into "nature" as you call it. That would be inhumane and unethical. You need to be prepared for this in the event that your snake does eat it's prey item. If you are not prepared to take care of it then take it back to the store you got it from. Would you release your snake into "nature" if you were not able to care for it?????

I would try again tomorrow.
Other options include: killing it and freezing it for later, offering it to a friend who also has snakes for feeding, keeping it for a bit (doesn't everyone have an extra ten gallon aquarium laying around? lol)

Re: Stubborn Kaliya !
We keep a mouse habitats for exactly this reason. We buy our live feeders a few days before we need them so keep a clean cage with water and rat food at all times

What you need to do is be a RESPONSIBLE pet owner.
If you offer to soon after a refusal it will likely lead to another refusal, since you decide to feed live you need to be prepared to care for the prey item if uneaten.
This mean temporary housing, food and water.
If you are not prepared to do this the other options are.
Return the prey item to the store.
Euthanize and freeze the prey item.
Releasing a pet in the wild is not an acceptable or RESPONSIBLE option.

Re: Stubborn Kaliya !
I've never had to deal with this before
So no, I wasn't prepared to a refusal
I did keep the mouse overnight
And tried the day after
But I eventually returned the prey to the store
And next time I'm buying a mouse I'll buy a little cage too, just in case
