Should I put my male in with my female if she is ...

I have started introducing my male to my two females ,the male and one of the females had good copulation that lasted 24+ hours . He will be ready to come off his 3 day break on sunday and be put in with my other female who he had copulation with a couple times already but never longer than an hour. I am concerned about putting him in with her because last night her eyes blued over so she will be shedding soon. I don't think its a pre or post ovulation shed I think its just a normal shed cycle so should I go ahead and put him back in with her or wait till she has shed?

I would let her shed before putting him back in. You don't need to get a lock every 4 days so there isn't anything to worry about.

I think you're right, unless the barometric pressure just dropped where you live then this is not an ovulation related shed.

Thanks that's what I was thinking . As for barometric pressure I'm in colorado and we have a cold front coming in so idk I may be affecting her.

When the female is in shed it's usually the best time to put the male with her.
Now if the male is in shed keep him from breeding.
I guess it's like being in heat so I would definitely put him in.

Wait, there is more than one method to breed snakes?

I called a local vet that specializes in snakes and they said no due to the stress that shedding puts on a snake , then putting the stress of breeding on top of that . I was thinking about putting them together for a day and if they don't copulate in that time then put him with my other female again so by the time she is done shedding he will be coming off his 3 day break.

In my experience females only need to be bred once a month, so if you don't want to pair when she's in shed then don't. Waiting a week won't change anything.

What the vet said is what I had always assumed as well and why I suggested not to. Just seems like common sense.

@Brock is there some information that points to it being a good time to put the male in?
