Hey guys! I'm currently building my collection to hopefully start breeding next year.

I've been doing all the research and reading I can find, but I feel that nothing is more informative, than experience itself.

So with that being said, I would love to know some tips and tricks that you veterans have learned over the years. Everything from what worked for you, to what didn't.

Anything you would want to tell a beginner whose wanting to get into breeding ball pythons.

Buy quality, not just snakes, but equipment such as thermostats. Garbage in = garbage out.

Breed what you like, as you may end up keeping the babies for quite a while.

Don't breed more than you can feed.

Racks are your friend.

Research sellers on the Fauna and Facebook BOI's before buying.

All incoming snakes should be preventively treated for mites and then quarantined for at least 90 days, preferrably in an area that doesn't share HVAC with your current collection.

Find a good herp vet before you need one. Keep at least $500 either in cash or line of available credit for emergencies.

Have your incubator in place and tested before you start pairing anything.

If you have to ask "Is this a normal?" then it probably is.

LOL, seriously though breeding is a 365 day a year process involving proper feeding, proper hydration, proper heat, proper humidity etc. In short, if you can take care of the animal so that it is healthy and thriving, breeding usually comes pretty easily.

The more you eant it, the longer they will make you wait.
Start with females if you are buying young and grow them out.
