Raising Ambient Temps

It's me again with another husbandry question...

I have my UTH keeping the warm side between 88-95F (on a rheostat, working on getting a thermostat)

I have a CHE but my ambient temps are only around 74F or so. My BP never goes to her cold hide. I'm worried she's too cold.
I keep my CHE on a dimmer because if not dimmed it creates hotspots off 100 F + !

But my BP does not bask in those areas, so is it okay? I'm worried because she tried to escape for the first time yesterday and has never done so before.

invest in a Pulse Proportional Thermostat, that should keep your temps up and accurate.

I was going to get a herpstat. What is the difference?

I don't think there is much difference, your one will supply constant but variable power, a pulse thermo will pulse on and off. I have a pulse thermo and it has helped a lot, I know a lot of people have used them. I think they are best suited to CHE's whereas yours are better for bulbs. --EDIT-- Don't take this as gospel, others might chime in with more info.

Every bp will try to escape. It's what they do. Maybe move your CHE towards the center of your viv. That might help raise the cooler end and keep your hot spot cooler than 100f+. what kind of tank is your snake in?
