    Is my new BP underweight?

    http://imgur.com/a/H0z8j

She's around 2 months old according to the breeder and only weighs 78 grams.
I thought she should be heavier than that.

I've had her about a week, and in that week, Ive fed her f/t rat pinkies twice, which she took gladly. I wouldn't say shes completely round, she has a slight triangular shape but a thick triangular shape?. I have fuzzie rats in store for her too. In the one week Ive had her, she's pooped once, and it was tiny. That was when I first had her, she has yet to poop the 2 pinkies I fed her.

Sounds about right, at two months my albino was 73 grams. I would move her up to rat pups. Pinks are too small.

I was looking at charts and stuff, and it seems like a 2 month BP's average weight would be at 100-130g?

    Charts don't mean a thing

1# They grow at different rate

2# At such a young age it depends on the size out of the egg, how fast the animal started to eat, how big of a prey, and feeding frequency.

So can a 2 months old be in the 70's on empty? yes it can.

I have hatch BP anywhere from 40 grams to 95 grams out of the eggs, some will start eating after their first shed (10 days) some will take a few weeks.

Bottom line it should really be about overall look then a number.

http://www.thereddragonsden.com/avgweight.htm This link is to a site where a bloke took average weights of his 15 baby ball pythons from birth. So make what you will of it, it is an average, so some will weigh more, some will weight less. Don't read too much into it, if there was a big difference then maybe it is something to worry about. This is a very small difference so don't worry.

OMG! My two BP's of aprox. 14 months old are 161g and 204g. This seems much to light.

Others in the thread have already discussed this.

For the size she is she looks to be a good weight to me, too. Very pretty, such nice, light colors. I love the random pattern around the middle of her back.

Your BPs are a year older than OP's (original post says 2 months old), so it's totally understandable that OP's weighs less.
