Does everything happen for a reason?

I have heard a lot in the past about the argument of everything happens for a (good) reason. Some believe its coincidence but I believe its true. I would like to know what you guys think. Its a bit of a long story, but everything gets explained. Sorry this isn't quite Herp related but I am posting it in the off-topic cafe

Last Wednesday night I went to a haunted house with some friends. I arrived first but didn't have any cash for parking. The lot attendant told directed me to the "free parking" area. Surprisingly it was CLOSER to the gate. Literally right around the corner. When my friends got there I told them to not pay for parking, but by that time, all the close parking spots were taken and they had to park down the street. The prices of tickets were basically the more you pay, the less you wait in line. My friends had brought cash and they had enough to not wait in line, but we still decided to get the cheapest tickets and wait in line. After the haunted house, we decided to get doughnuts at one of those unique places you can only find in one state (Voodoo Doughnuts). I had no idea how to get there so I got direction from my friends GPS. I was convoked that I would still get lost, so when I got to my car I decided to see if I could catch up to my friends at their car and just follow them. I found their car before they even got there and I followed them to the doughnuts place. They parked in a small parking lot behind the building and I parked next to them (closer to the road). It was a kinda shadowy-sketchy-ally kinda parking lot. The kind of place you double check to make sure your car is locked. We walked around and got our doughnuts, but when we came back around….MY CAR WAS GONE. Thinking it was stolen, I called 911. Not even two minutes later, my phone died (Its a piece of crap). One of my friends let me barrow his phone and not two minutes into that call, a tow truck showed up. It pulled into the lot and thinking it had nothing to do with us, we ignored it. It then lined up with my friends' car and the driver got out and started looking at the space between his truck and the car. My friend went over to talk with him and it was then I saw the "No Parking" sign. I felt like an idiot. The more I looked around, the more signs I saw. There was around 15 signs total for a parking lot of about 10 spaces. My friends had just enough cash to pay the truck driver their fine and not tow their car. I however, had to call the impound lot and ask the driver who towed my car to stay there and wait until I got there. He was a real nice guy and waited. My friends drove my over there and I had to pay almost triple what they did (because it was an actual tow, and was in the lot). Thankfully they accepted cards at the impound lot (I didn't have any cash). I got my car back and we all went home.

So I stated that everything happens for a reason, but honestly, I have NO IDEA why my car got towed. What I do know is this: I didn't have cash for parking which allowed me to park closer than my friends. Had I not parked closer, I would not have been able to follow them to the doughnut shop (and probably gotten lost). If my friends paid for the more expensive tickets and skipped the line, they would not of had cash to pay for their car on-the-spot, and it would have gotten towed. Had their car gotten towed, I would not have a ride to the impound lot to get my car, and NO ONE would have had a ride home. If I didn't follow my friends to the doughnut shop, I would have parked somewhere else, no one would have parked closer to the street, and my friends would have gotten towed first instead of me. Had they been towed first, they would be without a car because they wouldn't have been able to pay the bigger fine (I was able to because I'm saving for school). Now why did ALL of this happen? What is the bigger picture? I have no idea. My best guess is because I have never eaten at Voodoo doughnuts and everyone had always told me how I need to eat there.

What are your thoughts one this? Are all of these just coincidence? because thats a lot of coincidence.

The big picture is: pay attention where you park. Not sure what enlightenment you're looking for.

I can't believe I actually read the whole thing...

Haha random thing about your post, did you state that Colorado is the only state to have voodoo donuts? And do you think that Colorado created it?

Oregonian here. I didn't even KNOW there were Voodoo Donuts in Colorado! When did that happen? I remember when there was only one location (the original Portland 3rd Ave.) and I'm not THAT old. Now they're everywhere?!

    1. Voodoo Doughnuts is a chain.

    2. You don't know why your car was towed? Most likely, the No Parking signs.

I truly believe that nothing is a coincidence. So yeah, i think that the chain of events unfolded the way it was supposed to....but next time check for parking signs!! lol The same kind of thing happened to my dad. In my city of Hamilton there are signs that have to do with when street cleaners or garbage men come by that say things like "Parking 1h limit except second friday of every month, 2-4pm". He parked there without reading the whole sign, went to the doctors and came back to a parking ticket. IMO, most ridiculous parking ticket ever.

If everyone described their day or night step by step, it would sound the same.

If you're looking for cosmic meaning in every thing you do, you might be disappointed.

Voodoo is just recently becoming a chain (in different states). Portland Oregon (WOOT WOOT!!) was the only place to have voodoo, and then someone decided that all of the potheads needed strange donuts 😂😂 but I don't know if they're going to go anywhere else and I hope that they don't!
