I feed Mazuri block(about $25/50lb) and then a hodgepodge of everything scrap from the kitchen and leftover dog food and fruit, pretty much anything except those few things they should not eat.

But the base diet is the lab block. I tried hogfeed and dog foods, and the rats were not as healthy, would cannibalize other rats, and did not produce as well.

I know others have had good luck on hog feed though.
