    BP hungry but won't eat?

Hi, I've had my ball for about a month now, she's 4 months old ish, and she's eaten for me (f/t) 3 times. She finished shedding yesterday and it was a little bit of a bad shed (kind of flakey) but I gave her a a soak and rub with a wet towel and she's shed fine. I got home today and she was cruising her tank like she does when hungry, so I offered her an f/t rat pup (I think) and she wasn't interested at all. Looked at it, tasted it, and then resumed cruising and trying to get out. Temps around 80 f and humidity's at 70, as it's still going down from her shed. I had an issue with her not eating when I got her, but she's been okay since then, refused last week but I think that's due to her going into shed. Her viv isn't the greatest as I'm poor but she has 2 hides, and round wooden thingy which she sits in a lot, and a plastic plant to fill space. Her hides are on each side so she doesn't have to choose. I'm a bit stumped as to why she's refusing, and would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

She needs a warm side around 90*F to digest properly. What are you using for heat and how are you measuring it?

Okay, I'll get it warmer asap! I've got a heat mat and a bulb, currently measuring it with one of the thermometer dials, but laid on the substrate to try to get the belly temp. A digital with a probe will be my first purchase on payday!

It's probably MUCH warmer than you think. Until payday, move the substrate and put your thermometer directly on the glass above where the heat mat is. What temperature is it there?

Those are crap and won't give the surface temperature, only the air temperature.

Do you have a thermostat or at least a dimmer on that heat mat? Unregulated they can get hot enough to burn your snake. If you move the substrate off of it and touch the glass over it, does it feel hot?

Getting a thermostat when I get paid! Sadly boss has been being funny about shifts so I've not had much money It doesn't feel hot, just warm. I'll be getting the decent thermometer this weekend, it's just what came with her when I got her a couple weeks ago
