My themometer says that my cage is only at about 75.5 degress when I have my heat pad on high. Maybe I need to wait a while for it to warm up all the way, or is it broken?

i have heard too that some of the heatpads are set up backwards & that high is actually the lowest setting & vice versa. You should check that out too!
Life is like a game of poker. You can play each hand to the best of your ability but you are still going to run into a bad beat from time to time. What matters is how you handle it. Do you go on tilt or can you maintain your composure & rebuild your stack?

That is definitely strange. There may be something wrong with it.

Maybe, I really don't want to use a bulb. Maybe its reverse wired. I'll check.

My heat pad works like that. What i did is test the pad. Put the thermometer directy on the pad and check the temps at different levels. Also place the thermometer closer to the floor of the enclosure. If you have a scren lid you may get false readings. Also heating pads give heat to the surface of the tank so its not going to heat up the air too much. I agree with thegodfather get a heat lamp and use a night time bulb and keep it on 24/7.
Thanks,
Damien

I have less than an inch between the pad and the tank. And its not a glass tank. Its a sterilite enclosure. I will test the pad thanks.

Double check your surface temps to make sure that the spot right above the tank is not too hot for the snake. Even though the air temp is low it doesnt mean the surface temp isnt way too high. You also do not want to have the heat pad set above the medium setting.
Look, sometimes bad things happen, and there is nothing you can do about it, so why worry?
