We have him on coconut husk with a couple places to hide and a water bowl made out of the bottom of a soda bottle. They also need heat in the mid 80s & high humidity. Once they're set up, they're pretty low maintenance. Plus you can always impress your friends by handling him like a badass (but not mentioning that an emperor scorpion sting doesn't feel any worse than a bee sting ) and by showing them what it looks like with a black light. Win!
I second all of these. We had an emperor in a 10 gal with a small heat lamp and coconut husk and a few hides including an awesome scull that was made for fish tanks. This was years ago but if I remember right, he ate about 10 lg crickets one feeding a week and there was very little cleaning required. They are pretty easily sustainable critters
