My new tank setup.
Hi,
Yesterday I have changed my tank setup and I want to share that with you. My tank measures 40" x 20" x 20" (100 x 50 x 50 cm).
Old setup (as I got it from the previous owner):
Substrate: Coconut husk
Hides: 2x Exo Terra hiding cave medium
Heating: Sun Glow 50W bulb, UTH (Terra Heatmat 388 x 274 mm, 15,3" x 10,8" inch, no thermostat)
Controlers: 1x analog thermometer
Decorations: DIY background, branches, artificial plants, some stones, basking stone
Water: 1x plastic waterbowl (tub)

And now the new setup:
Substrate: Aspen snake bedding
Hides: 2x Exo Terra hiding cave large
Heating: CHE 65W bulb (left, at hot side) controlled by ThermoControl PRO II, UTH controlled by Heatel thermostat (Terra Heatmat 388 x 274 mm, 15,3" x 10,8" inch)
Controlers: 1x analog thermometer, ThermoControl PRO II, Heatel thermostat, Digital hydrometer
Decorations: DIY background, branches, artificial plants (some new), some stones, jungle vines (for probes)
Water: 1x Water Dish XL (Exo Terra)
Lighting: 1x Repti Glo 5.0 compact 13W (day) (right, at cold side, minimal heat exchange), Moon Lamp LED 0,5W in the middle (night)
Covered 75% of top ventilation for humidity control with tinfoil.

Your oppinions please..... ?

Personal opinion its great BUT you need a visual snake in there! cage is very open/display like! Little bp just hides all day

Attractive setup. I think it depends on the ball python. I know they get ragged on a lot about not being good display snakes but my lesser is a showboat and every evening he comes out and climbs all over everything even with his bright florescent cage lights on. Since I work during the day while hes sleeping that's the perfect time for him to show off.

Very nice looking setup. I think it's fine.
My only critique/questions is where are the lamps at? Are they on the inside or outside of the enclosure? The snake can get burned by heat lamps/bulbs if precautions aren't taken.

This picture is taken during daytime, so my snake is sleeping, occasionally he comes out of his hide to take a bath or a drink. In the evening he cruises around, climbs on the branches and on the plants. I think this is his natural behaviour?

The lamps are inside of the enclosure, but they have protection. The lamps on the right and in the middle have a metalwire screen on the bottom and won't get very hot. The one on the right has the 13W UVB energy saving lamp in it, as of right now I can comfortably hold the lampfixture without burning myself. So I think that should be okay? The lamp in the middle has a 0,5W LED lamp, this will be okay I guess. The hottest lamp in my enclosure, the CHE on the left, has a metalwire cage around it so my snake doesn't get burned that way.
But thank you for y're concern.
